Today, Cullen and Dykman has offices in Albany, Hackensack, Princeton, Washington, DC and Battery Park in lower Manhattan. With strong ties to Brooklyn, the firm still represents Brooklyn Union Gas Company and half a dozen other major well-known Brooklyn institutions.<\/p>\n

A legacy of excellence<\/p>\n

The firm\u2019s history begins with its founder, Alexander McCue, who established the firm in Brooklyn during a period of rapid growth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A graduate of Columbia College, McCue played a pivotal role in shaping the city\u2019s development. Notably, his work on the Brooklyn Bridge, including procuring land for the bridge\u2019s construction, helped lay the foundation for the firm\u2019s future. The firm also provided counsel to the bridge\u2019s trustees in key litigation involving patents, claims and negligence related to this landmark project.<\/p>\n

Cullen and Dykman takes its name from Edgar M. Cullen, a former chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals, who rejoined the firm in 1915 after retiring from the bench in 1913, and William N. Dykman, a prominent attorney who had been with the firm since 1878. Despite significant growth, the firm\u2019s name remained unchanged. Dykman later served as president of the New York State Bar Association in 1923 and 1924.<\/p>\n
