A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a Yonkers shooting that left one person dead and four others injured.<\/p>\n
Police say the incident occurred around 8:43 p.m. Sunday near Elm Street and Palisade Avenue.<\/p>\n
A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining a gunshot wound to his back.<\/p>\n
The other victims comprise of two 15-year-olds, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old. Police say they remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition.<\/p>\n
The teen suspect was taken into custody at the scene. Investigators say they have recovered a loaded gun and ballistic evidence.<\/p>\n
The shooting was a targeted incident and there is no further threat to the public, according to police.<\/p>\n
Yonkers police and Mayor Mike Spano held a press conference covering the shooting at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
Spano discussed the issue of gun violence and law enforcement plans to combat it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to continue to be vigilant and do the things we need to do to keep our communities safe,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are taking our streets back\u2026 For those who may think about a retaliatory strike, they might want to think again.\u201d<\/p>\n
During a question and answer session with media, law enforcement officials said the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
