(WCAX) &#8211; Police in Northern New York have released the name of a woman who was found dead at a home in Jay, and they now say her death was a homicide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Troopers say the body of Patricia Lawrence, 54, of Jay, was found at a home on Carey Road Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police were called to the home at about 10 a.m. after receiving a report of a dead woman. Troopers found Lawrence\u2019s body inside the residence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Now, an autopsy has found that Lawrence\u2019s death was a homicide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police are still investigating the circumstances of Lawrence\u2019s death. They said previously that they were executing multiple search warrants and processing the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">They also asked residents and businesses in the surrounding area to review security camera footage for any suspicious activity between 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, and 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. People who find any suspicious activity are asked to call the state police at 518-897-2000.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WCAX.
