Tomahawk and Melvins brought their \u201cA Huge Waste of Your Time and Money\u201d tour to Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, NY on July 28, delivering a night that celebrated two long-running heavy music institutions.<\/p>\n
The outing marked Tomahawk\u2019s first U.S. tour in 13 years and commemorated the band\u2019s 25th anniversary. It also reunited the group with Melvins for their first tour together since the 2003 \u201cGeek Show\u201d run.<\/p>\n
Melvins opened the evening with a 12-song set that mixed newer material with longtime fan favorites. The band worked through tracks including \u201cWorking the Ditch,\u201d \u201cCivilized Worm,\u201d \u201cA History of Bad Men,\u201d \u201cHoney Bucket,\u201d and \u201cNight Goat,\u201d the latter featuring Tomahawk bassist Trevor Dunn.<\/p>\n
Tomahawk followed with a career-spanning 21-song performance, pulling from across the band\u2019s catalog with songs such as \u201cFlashback,\u201d \u201cBusiness Casual,\u201d \u201cCapt. Midnight,\u201d \u201cBirdsong,\u201d \u201cMayday,\u201d and \u201cGod Hates a Coward.\u201d The encore also included a live debut of \u201cAll the Way,\u201d performed as a duet by Mike Patton and Duane Denison. According to the band\u2019s setlist, \u201cWhite Hats \/ Black Hats\u201d was planned but ultimately omitted.<\/p>\n
The tour continues through mid-August with stops across the United States before wrapping up in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
