Jennifer Lackard, the Mount Vernon police department\u2019s Deputy Commissioner of Public Safety<\/a>, was arrested for attempted murder Tuesday for being the getaway driver when her gangbanger son opened fire near a Bronx courthouse, police<\/a> sources said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Lackard, 49, and her son, Chase Lackard, 20, were arrested when police at 5:30 a.m. showed up with an arrest warrant at their home in the Soundview section of the Bronx, police said.<\/p>\n

They were both charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, gun possession, conspiracy and reckless endangerment, police said.<\/p>\n

Chase allegedly fired at a group behind the Bronx Hall of Justice near E. 162nd St. and Grand Ave. just before noon June 29, then jumped in a car driven by his mother, police said. No one was struck.<\/p>\n

The incident was linked to gang tensions, police said.<\/p>\n

In November 2024, the son, who authorities say is a member of the \u201cSlutty Gang,\u201d was shot<\/a> in Soundview by NYPD cops. Officers responding to a clash at the Stevenson Commons residential tower on White Plains Road near Lafayette Ave. saw him waving a gun, police said at the time.<\/p>\n

Lackard was shot in the leg by police after he allegedly pointed his 9 mm. pistol at officers, police said.<\/p>\n
