NEW YORK CITY \u2014 A GOP lawmaker is proposing legislation that would block federal funds from New York City in response to Zohran Mamdani being elected as mayor on Tuesday. <\/p>\n
Rep. Buddy Carter of Georgia’s new legislation is called the “MAMDANI Act” or the Moving American Money Distant from Anti-National Interests Act, according to a Tuesday post on X<\/a>. <\/p>\n The bill states that during any period in which Zohran Mamdani is mayor of New York City any unobligated Federal funds available for the city “are hereby rescinded” and that no federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose to the city, according to FOX News Digital<\/a>. <\/p>\n “If New Yorkers want communism, we should let them have their wish and not artificially prop them up with our successful capitalist system,” Carter told FOX News Digital. <\/p>\n “A radical socialist is officially in charge of the biggest city in the country.
