Today, Art Week NYC announced participating galleries for its first citywide event, running November 11–14. The gallery program anchors the inaugural edition with more than 76 galleries across Chelsea, Tribeca, the Lower East Side, and the Upper East Side, including Hauser & Wirth, Gagosian, David Zwirner, Pace Gallery, Lisson, and Paula Cooper Gallery. Programming extends beyond galleries: a full day of public events with the New Museum, plus exhibitions and artist talks citywide.

Onassis ONX launches ONX Relay, a new model for funding tech-driven art.

The Onassis Foundation’s tech-and-art platform, Onassis ONX, is rolling out a new initiative aimed at a problem increasingly familiar to ambitious artists working in AI and immersive media: the gap between what they can conceive and what museums can actually support. ONX Relay pairs selected artists with funding, production resources, and curatorial guidance to move technically demanding projects from concept to exhibition-ready, while simultaneously building relationships with the institutions that might eventually show them. The inaugural cohort features Trevor Paglen, Maya Man, and Ben Frost, who will each spend the next year developing new museum-scale works with ONX Relay’s backing.

The Bronx Museum extends its reach into public space while its campus is under renovation.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts has announced “Unfolding: Inside, Outside, & Beyond,” a series of exhibitions and public programs designed to carry the institution through the remainder of its renovation, which is expected to open in fall 2027. Designed by Marvel, the renovated campus will feature a transparent, street-level entrance echoing the original Arquitectonica building. In the meantime, “Unfolding” activates the museum’s permanent collection, centered on contemporary artists of color and artists with Bronx ties, while pushing programming beyond the gallery. Highlights include Saya Woolfalk’s The Woods Woman Method (opening October 9), which reframes the collection through a speculative lens tied to nature, cosmology, and collective storytelling, and will shape her forthcoming lobby commission.

Palais de Tokyo’s temporary move sparks backlash from a displaced artist collective.

Paris’ Palais de Tokyo will close for major repairs starting July 2027. Housed since 2002 in a 1937 World’s Fair structure, the noncollecting art hall has repeatedly shuttered in recent summers as exceeding temperatures force an at-least-eighteen-month renovation. The Palais will move its offices into a 14th Arrondissement town hall annex currently occupied by La Générale, one of Paris’ oldest artist-run spaces, whose occupancy agreement expires December 31. La Générale volunteer Sébastien Jamain said members discovered a Palais technician measuring the space shortly after being told it would become a break room for municipal staff. The arrondissement’s mayor, Carine Petit, maintains La Générale was informed long ago that the building can’t legally host public events. City officials say the collective’s relocation request came too late to find alternatives. La Générale disputes this, calling the one offered space unworkable. A petition backing La Générale has drawn nearly 1,400 signatures, with artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar publicly weighing in on the standoff.

Taryn Simon to become first photography and film artist to have a Guggenheim solo show.

Multidisciplinary artist Taryn Simon will make history at the Guggenheim this fall as the first photography-and-film artist to receive a full rotunda solo show. “Taryn Simon: Father Country I Do Love You” opens September 18, 2026, running through March 14, 2027, marking both the museum’s first monographic rotunda presentation by a photo-based artist and its largest debut of new work to date. Nearly ten years in the making, the show spans 42 works across photography, text, video, and sculpture, following the real story of an unnamed federal agent whose evidence-gathering work quietly shaped the lives of people and nations he never met. The project is dedicated to Simon’s own father, a government employee who worked across Thailand, Russia, Iran, Israel, China, Afghanistan, and Korea before a second career in arcade games.

Policrónica Studio designs nine distinct houses across a Portuguese cork-oak landscape.

Art Cure by Daisy Fancourt finds a scientific case for culture as medicine.

At The Barbican Centre in London, Päivi Raivio’s furniture asks what a public space should be.

Pierre Paulin’s Dune seating sets the scene for Fred again.. and Latin Mafia’s creative retreat.

Art Week NYC unveils the gallery lineup for its inaugural November event.
