{"id":315187,"date":"2026-08-06T13:54:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T13:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/315187\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T13:54:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T13:54:12","slug":"scott-lobaido-recovering-after-medical-emergency-following-staten-island-protest-%c2%b7-the-floridian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/315187\/","title":{"rendered":"Scott LoBaido Recovering After Medical Emergency Following Staten Island Protest \u00b7 The Floridian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Patriotic artist and activist <a href=\"https:\/\/scottlobaido.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scott LoBaido<\/a> is recovering in stable condition after suffering a medical emergency shortly after confronting Mayor Zohran Mamdani during a Staten Island appearance.<\/p>\n<p>According to attendees, Mayor Mamdani was met by a vocal crowd of protesters and, during his brief remarks, acknowledged LoBaido by saying, \u201cThank you, my brother Scott LoBaido, great artist but we disagree on politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, LoBaido collapsed in front of hundreds of onlookers and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is now listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether the scare would cause him to slow down, LoBaido was unequivocal saying: \u201cI\u2019ll fight for what I believe in every day of the week rather than sit back while we get trampled on. I\u2019m okay and ready to get back into the fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His message to the Mayor was equally direct: \u201cStay the ____ away from Ground Zero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LoBaido said he believes the site should always honor the memory of those lost on September 11 and reiterated his disappointment that his proposal for a permanent giant American flag at Ground Zero has stalled.<\/p>\n<p>The first sign that he was recovering came when his girlfriend shared a photo from his hospital bed\u2014LoBaido smiling in his trademark fashion, defiantly raising his middle finger.<\/p>\n<p>By the following morning, LoBaido was already discussing future projects.<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether nearly dying had changed his outlook, he laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I have to leave here early, at least you\u2019re going to remember me, honey. And you should\u2019ve bought my $&amp;@\/ing art while you had the chance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though he has not yet announced when he will be discharged, LoBaido says one thing is certain: \u201cDon\u2019t worry. I\u2019m not done fighting.
