NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2013 Say goodbye to summer nights;<\/a> sunset will soon start creeping closer to 4:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Next Monday will be the last 8 p.m. sunset of the year, according to the Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac<\/a>. By Tuesday, sunset will inch up to 7:58 p.m., then reach 7:28 p.m. by September 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It only gets worse from there \u2013 sunset is around 6:30 p.m. by October 1. Then, daylight saving time will end<\/a> in November, setting clocks back by an hour. Mid-December will bring nightfall by 4:30 p.m., and the late-night summer sun won\u2019t return until May 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a devastating blow to New Yorkers, who expressed their discontent on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy office is looking into how to stop this,\u201d said Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The good news is that September will bring relief from the heat. Starting Sept. 2, temperatures will consistently sit under 80 degrees, with a few hot and sunny days projected on the weekends.\u00a0<\/p>\n
