Hey now, Hilary Duff <\/a>and ex Joel Madden<\/a>\u2019s post-split friendship is precisely what dreams are made of.<\/p>\n

Duff, 38, brought her Lucky Me Tour <\/a>to New York City\u2019s Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, August 5, where she enlisted Madden\u2019s Good Charlotte for a special duet.<\/p>\n

In addition to Duff\u2019s setlist of Luck\u2026 or Something tracks and throwback hits, the pop star rocked out with Joel, 47, and brother Benji Madden for a rendition of 2002\u2019s \u201cThe Anthem,\u201d per social media footage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later during the show, per In Style<\/a> clips, Duff changed into a vintage Good Charlotte T-shirt to perform \u201cWhy Not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHilary Duff and Matthew Koma got in on the Halloween fun by dressing up as her ex Joel Madden and his twin brother, Benji Madden. \u201cGoing as @benjaminadden and @joelmadden to a Halloween dinner with @joelmadden and @nicolerichie,\u201d Koma, 37, wrote via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, October 30, alongside a photo of him and Duff, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201cFAMILY NIGHT @ MSG. CONGRATS @hilaryduff,\u201d Benji, 47, wrote via his Instagram Stories following the concert, sharing a backstage selfie with his brother, Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma. Joel\u2019s wife, Nicole Richie, was also present for the nostalgia-induced evening.<\/p>\n

Long before Duff and Madden found love with Koma, 39, and Richie, 44, respectively, they dated from 2004 to 2006. The now-exes have since remained on friendly terms.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a good relationship with their whole family. We actually hang out all the time,\u201d the Younger alum recalled on a 2023 episode<\/a> of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. \u201cI was just in [Nicole\u2019s] driveway, honking for her to come drink wine with us the other day. \u2026 Now, we get them to hike together all the time. And you know what? It\u2019s lovely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joel, for his part, had also been candid about staying cordial with Duff<\/a> long before their MSG duet.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery girl I\u2019ve ever dated I have respect for, and I always try to leave them [on] good terms,\u201d Joel told People<\/a> in 2007. \u201cI don\u2019t see the necessity to be friends with anyone you\u2019ve dated but definitely out of respect of the time, you have to be kind of respectful and that\u2019s what I try to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the rocker, he was never one to publicly address the breakup.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHilary Duff confirmed that at least some of the music on her upcoming album is about her family after fans speculated that one song in particular is about her sister, Haylie Duff. Hilary, 38, opened up about her new album, Luck \u2026 Or Something, in a cover interview with Glamour published Tuesday, February 17. The [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201cI kind of ignored it and tried to just continue to live my life,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cPeople can say or think whatever they want, so in my reality, it\u2019s kind of irrelevant. I\u2019m always the kind of person that does the right thing and keeps my side of the street clean.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joel married Richie in 2010 before they welcomed two children. As for Duff, she shares son Luca, 14, with ex-husband Mike Comrie and three daughters with Koma.<\/p>\n

Duff, who kicked off her Lucky Me Tour in June, returns to MSG for a second show on Thursday, August 6.<\/p>\n
