{"id":31608,"date":"2025-11-07T07:02:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T07:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/31608\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T07:02:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T07:02:12","slug":"nyc-warns-of-high-winds-colder-temps-into-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/31608\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC warns of high winds, colder temps into Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block-key=\"u7076\">Hold on to your hats, New York City.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"ftim7\">The city\u2019s emergency management office put in place a wind advisory on Wednesday afternoon, alerting residents that 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph will hit the city at around 9 p.m. and continue through 8 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"c3tug\">Officials warned New Yorkers to use caution when walking, biking and driving.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"9scta\">James Connolly with the National Weather Service in New York said a cold front will be moving into the area ahead of the gusty winds, with temperatures dropping to around 40 degrees in the evening.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"5enlb\">\u201c\u200aThere&#8217;s just a cold air mass up in Canada that&#8217;s coming down south and that change in air mass obviously creates the wind,\u201d Connolly said.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"23tcj\">He added that conditions won\u2019t be extreme, but echoed that residents should stay alert.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"4uer2\">&#8220;The gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, some tree limbs could be blown down and there could be a few power outages as well, so those are the main impacts we&#8217;re looking for,\u201d Connolly said. \u201cAlso, it could be difficult driving high-profile vehicles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"7h4am\">Forecasters say conditions will stay cool and breezy Thursday, with temperature highs in the low to mid 50s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hold on to your hats, New York City.
