The Insider: Park Slope Flemish Revival Gleams After Meticulous Restoration<\/a><\/p>\n

This pedigreed Historic District dwelling at one end of a row of 12 Flemish Revival style buildings near Prospect Park came fully loaded. Completed in 1903 and designed by architects Chappell & Bosworth, a prolific Brooklyn-based team for the first three decades of the 20th century, the house was laden with carved oak woodwork, including a central staircase, elaborate fireplace surrounds, mirrors, and doors, as well as parquet floors and several stained-glass windows.<\/p>\n

Crown Heights Block Reclaims Throne as Greenest Block in Brooklyn<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cYou can make a planter out of anything,\u201d longtime gardener Perri Edwards told an admirer of her MoMA-inspired heads sculpted from milk cartons, with leaves of different shades and species sprouting like hair.<\/p>\n

Edwards\u2019 Lincoln Place stoop and front yard, like those of her neighbors, have become a cross between a whimsical garden, a tribute to New York City, and an educational display on upcycling and community greening.<\/p>\n

Suspect in Bushwick Church Fire Arrested, Charged With Arson<\/a><\/p>\n

A 24-year-old man was arrested today and is facing arson charges for allegedly \u201cintentionally and maliciously\u201d setting the fire that decimated the South Bushwick Reformed Church on June 19.<\/p>\n

John Jones is accused of starting the blaze that tore through the 1853 Greek Revival structure at 855-867 Bushwick Avenue, according to a complaint unsealed in Brooklyn federal court today. The fire toppled the landmarked church\u2019s iconic steeple and destroyed its sanctuary.<\/p>\n
