Former NYC Mayor Eric Adams<\/a> showed off his assets this week, posting a shirtless selfie \u2014 while clutching an XL cucumber and a red bell pepper to promote healthy eating.<\/p>\n

\u201c65 years old and I\u2019ve never been in better shape!\u201d a buffed Adams boasted on X Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cA few years before I became Mayor, diabetes nearly cost me my eyesight. I changed my diet, changed my lifestyle, and changed my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ex-NYC Mayor Eric Adams posted a shirtless selfie on X clutching a foot-long cucumber and a red bell pepper to promote healthy eating. X\/ericadamsfornyc<\/p>\n

The centrist Democrat \u2013 who made healthy living a key platform throughout\u00a0his four years in office\u00a0<\/a>that ended in 2025 with an aborted re-election campaign \u2014 noted that he and his 29-year-old son Jordan Coleman \u201chave a competition to see who will be in the best shape of our lives by our [upcoming] Virgo birthdays.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to win, Jordan. My secret weapon: VEGGIES,\u201d added Adams, who included crying-laughing, cucumber and pepper emojis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis photo isn\u2019t about showing off (okay, maybe a little bit of that too). It\u2019s about showing what\u2019s possible when you take control of your health. Eat your vegetables!\u201d<\/p>\n

Adams \u2013 and his veggies \u2014 were immediately roasted on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou shirtless holding a cucumber was NOT on my bingo card! What\u2019s the name of this porno? lol,\u201d wrote\u00a0former congressman and convicted\u00a0fraudster\u00a0George Santos<\/a>\u00a0(R-NY),\u00a0while including a crying-laughing emoji.<\/p>\n

\u201cHear me out: Only Fans,\u201d quipped progressive activist\u00a0Nomiki Konst,\u00a0<\/a>the ex-girlfriend of former far-left Mayor Bill de Blasio.<\/p>\n

One account, calling itself \u201cSunshine Sunnybunz,\u201d <\/a>posted what appeared to be an AI-generated photo, taking Adams\u2019 original photo and swapping the pepper for a huge bottle of baby oil.<\/p>\n

Others paid respect to Adams\u2019 jacked-up look, and debated whether it was less about healthy eating and more about a thirst trap. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe funniest thing about this is that I can\u2019t tell if this is Eric Adams thirst trapping or if it\u2019s AI Generated\u2026,\u201d wrote podcaster <\/a>Forrest Miller.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are debating the cost of groceries and general cost of living and here goes eric adams thirst trapping on main in the middle of the day,\u201d goofed another X user. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cCareful, Eric. Mamdani and the DSA are going to see that cucumber and slap a wealth tax on it,\u201d said ex-Councilman Robert Holden, a centrist Queens Dem, referring to Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his comrades at the Democratic Socialists of America.<\/p>\n

People both mocked and admired the shirtless photo on social media. J.C. Rice<\/p>\n

\u201cGive this UNC credit, no matter how you feel about him,\u201d said Queens Borough President Donavan Richards, <\/a>a Democrat, who included a muscles-flexing emoji.<\/p>\n

Todd Shapiro, a spokesman for Adams, told The Post, \u201cWhen a former mayor takes his shirt off and poses for a photo, of course it\u2019s going to become a story. This is New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut behind the laughs and the photos is actually a serious story about health, discipline and second chances,\u201d added Shapiro, who credits Adams with helping him lose 130 pounds and combat obesity.<\/p>\n

\u201cEric Adams has spoken and written extensively about his wellness journey, going plant-based, transforming his lifestyle and reversing his Type 2 diabetes. Now, after turning 60, he\u2019s proud of the shape he\u2019s in.\u201d<\/p>\n
