Thousands celebrate Dominican pride at 44th annual parade 1\"\/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The National Dominican Day Parade 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Dean Moses<\/p>\n<p>Thousands gathered in Midtown on Sunday for the 44th annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/new-york\/manhattan\/nypd-dominican-day-parade-prep-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">National Dominican Day Parade<\/a>, held under the theme \u201cDominicanos: Identidad y Cultura.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A sea of red, white, and blue filled 6th Avenue from 37th Street to 55th Street as music, dancing, and Dominican pride took over the streets. Crowds packed the sidewalks, waving Dominican flags and cheering as colorful floats rolled past. Performers danced in the streets while bands played the unmistakable sounds of the tambora, g\u00fcira, and diatonic accordion, creating a steady rhythm that echoed between the buildings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-137863569\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/DSC07898-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"5181\" height=\"4301\" title=\"\u00a1Quisqueya en Manhattan! Among them were Gov. Kathy Hochul, Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Attorney General Letitia James, Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams.<\/p>\n<p>They were joined by this year\u2019s parade honorees, including Grand Marshal Dr. Ramon Tallaj, founder of SOMOS Community Care; Parade Godfather and salsa singer Jos\u00e9 Alberto \u201cEl Canario\u201d; King of the Parade and television and radio personality Frederick Mart\u00ednez \u201cEl Pach\u00e1\u201d; and Ambassador of Youth Empowerment Lizbel Ortiz, a writer and creator.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-137863567\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/DSC07714-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"6756\" height=\"4672\" title=\"\u00a1Quisqueya en Manhattan! Thank you so much for everything you have done for this city.
