Local police are seeking a Staten Island, New York, man accused of passing counterfeit currency at businesses in the area.<\/p>\n

Officers with the Newtown Township Police Department responded late Tuesday afternoon, June 23, to the Newtown Shopping Center after receiving reports that a man was using fake $100 and $20 bills.<\/p>\n

An investigation determined that several retail businesses had accepted the counterfeit money, police said. <\/p>\n

Detectives identified the suspect as 29-year-old Shane Degoat, and an arrest warrant has been obtained for his custody.<\/p>\n

Degoat is wanted on charges of forgery, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property.<\/p>\n
