Rapper Kanye West<\/a> \u2014 who released a song praising Adolf Hitler earlier this year \u2014 made a groveling apology to a New York City rabbi and said he is taking \u201caccountability\u201d for his bizarre antisemitic<\/a> streak, which he blamed on mental illness.<\/p>\n

West, who now goes by Ye, told Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto on Tuesday he had \u201cprofound remorse\u201d for his laundry list of antisemitic remarks that triggered global outrage and cost him major business partnerships, video shared on social media shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel really blessed to be able to sit here with you today and just take accountability,\u201d West told the rabbi<\/a>. \u201cI was dealing with some various issues of bipolar, so it would take the ideas I had and have me take them to an extreme where I would forget about the protection of the people around me or and myself.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I wanted to come and take accountability\u2026 Sometimes people aren\u2019t that knowledgeable about bipolar and the cause, or what causes it, and the way you act when you have this disease,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Pinto, through a translator, called West a \u201cvery good man\u201d and hugged the rapper, the clip shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cA person is not defined by his mistakes, but by the way he chooses to correct them,\u201d Pinto said in a statement online. \u201cThis is the true strength of man: The ability to return, to learn, and to build bridges of love and peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ye\u2019s public controversial statements began in 2022 when he threatened to go \u201cdeath con 3 on Jewish people\u201d on social media, followed by a series of strange interviews in which he praised Hitler and spouted conspiracy claims about Jews controlling US media and finance.<\/p>\n

Ye\u2019s antisemitic posts and comments continued in subsequent years, and he often downplayed the Holocaust<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He bafflingly released a song titled \u201cHeil Hitler\u201d in May 2025 and sold T-shirts blaring huge swastikas on the front.<\/p>\n

Just two weeks after the song\u2019s release, he claimed he was \u201cdone with antisemitism.\u201d<\/p>\n
