Whether you sit outside on the breezy sidewalk patios or settle into the leather banquettes in the spacious dining room, The Grand delivers a relaxed dining and social experience.

The Grand sits prominently on the corner of 30th Avenue and 37th Street in the heart of Astoria. Privacy hedges surround bistro chairs and tables while the leather banquettes inside allow for intimate meals and drinks with friends. The raised lounge area accommodates up to 16 for a group celebration. The barista coffee bar at the front brews aromatic coffees, tea drinks, and serves pastries and fresh crepes all day and night long, to stay or to go.

Start with a refreshing cocktail from their extensive list such as the frozen margarita, piña colada, and frosé. The Grand Paloma is mixed with tequila blanco, lime, pink grapefruit soda, agave, and black salt on the rim. Island Rush has a blend of rums, pineapple, passion fruit, and lime for the perfect summer drink. Fine wines and beers all go well with The Grand’s wonderful appetizers or snacks. We shared the delicious crispy shrimp tacos which were crunchy outside, tender and juicy inside topped with cilantro and chipotle aioli, served three to an order for $18. George, the gracious owner, recommended the tuna tartare and we were delighted with the freshness of this mound of chopped tuna atop a disk of freshly mashed guacamole with soy, ginger, and spicy mayo served with tortilla chips for scooping it all up ($19). The Grand’s watermelon and halloumi cheese salad speaks of summer so enjoy it while it’s in season.

The Grand purchases the freshest, finest, seasonal ingredients and makes all orders on the spot. For lunch or dinner, their freshly made bowls make a hearty meal. The falafel bowl layers couscous, sweet roasted peppers, avocado, and pickled red onions with yogurt lemon dressing, served with warm pita bread ($20). The Teriyaki bowl features your choice of chicken, salmon, or shrimp over quinoa, rice, corn, red beans, cucumber, tomato, and sesame seeds with its signature dressing.

The chef prepares warm, grilled sandwiches that are so satisfying. The Halloumi grilled chicken sandwich is very popular, layered onto warm ciabatta bread with cucumber, tomato and a bright lemon aioli. Our friendly servers said that the Prime steak sandwich is also a hot item with tender, juicy Pat LaFrieda Prime NY Strip with mushroom, onion, arugula and horseradish on crusty ciabatta. Lunch specials are served Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm for just $16.

Dinner entrees are perfectly executed and served on gleaming platters. My seared sesame tuna was exceptionally fresh, encrusted in toasted sesame seeds served over fluffy rice with wasabi and ginger ($30). My companion’s spicy rigatoni gets a kick from Calabrian chilis and has a dollop of creamy ricotta, with optional shrimp on top.

The Grand makes authentic crepes filled with your choice of banana, strawberry, Nutella, and Dubai chocolate. The Chef’s cookie in a skillet is a big hit with kids and adults, and the banana crème brulee is creamy and sweet. The milk shakes are great too!

The Grand was awarded the best brunch in Astoria and it’s served all day. The Grand is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch Sunday to Thursday from 9am to 11pm and Friday and Saturday until 1am for your dining and sipping pleasure. Their website boasts mouth-watering photos and menus so you can order straight from there. Plan your next private party at The Grand and wow your guests with great food, cocktails, and service.
