Curtis Sliwa called out the families of 9\/11 victims who have demanded New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani stay away from this year’s annual ceremony marking the 2001 terror attack.<\/p>\n
The families announced in an exclusive report from the New York Post last month that they wanted to ban Mamdani<\/a> from attending ceremonies on the 25th anniversary of the attacks on the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attack on the Twin Towers, which left 2,977 people dead<\/a>.<\/p>\n One of the men quoted in the report \u2014 who lost his wife on 9\/11 \u2014 claimed Mamdani failed to “meaningfully acknowledge the horror of that day.” The man also cited the mayor’s association with left-wing influencer Hasan Piker, who controversially said the U.S. deserved 9\/11 before eventually walking back those comments.<\/p>\n Sliwa called the push to ban Mamdani “ridiculous,” while talking with reporters Thursday, adding:<\/p>\n He’s the mayor. Stop being sore losers! You knew this is Zohran Mamdani. He was never a fake, phony, fraudulent, fugazi like a lot of politicians. He told you who he was. Once he got elected, you should have known he was going to be there at 9\/11. Now, if you choose to turn your back on him, I don’t want to ever tell family members what they should be doing on this holiday \u2014 not holiday, but this solemn occasion \u2014 that’s your choice. But I believe you respect the office. He’s the mayor. He’s representing the city.<\/p>\n Sliwa then took a shot at radio host Sid Rosenberg and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n Ahead of November’s mayoral election, Rosenberg joked with Cuomo \u2014 who ran as an Independent \u2014 that Mamdani would cheer for the terrorists if 9\/11 happened while he was in office. Cuomo agreed, and the viral clip sparked furious outrage<\/a>.<\/p>\n “He was gaining traction,” Sliwa continued, “and then he made that stupid remark and then didn’t handle it well. And then Zohran exploited the hell out of it, as he should.
