SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – The Briar Cliff Chargers volleyball team hosts the BCU Triangular on Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Newman Flanagan Center.<\/p>\n
The Chargers enter the season with a new-look roster following several departures, but return key contributors up front. Aubrey Hoeft, the team\u2019s blocks leader, and fellow all-conference player Brooklyn Voss are both back. Senior Reese Strouth also returns at the setter position.<\/p>\n
Head coach Lauren Boatman said mental approach will be a focal point for the team this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not really being mentally tough in the sense people would think \u2014 it\u2019s more like having a great attitude, giving your very best, treating each other really well and being unconditionally grateful regardless of your circumstances,\u201d Boatman said.<\/p>\n
Strouth said the team is ready to compete after a productive offseason.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so excited \u2014 it was a great summer, everyone worked so hard and now we\u2019re just ready to go,\u201d Strouth said.<\/p>\n
Hoeft echoed that sentiment heading into the new season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re super excited and super pumped for this upcoming season \u2014 just can\u2019t wait,\u201d Hoeft said.<\/p>\n
Briar Cliff opens regular season play Saturday, Aug. 15, against Avila at the Newman Flanagan Center. First serve is set<\/p>\n
