\n\tDesigner details, out-of-the-box amenities, Michelin-starred chefs, sumptuous suites, tony locations, and highly personalized service are all de rigueur. While many of N.Y.C.\u2019s best inns are century-old institutions, very prominent newcomers are testing the old standbys\u2019 ability to stay fresh.\u00a0(In fact, many of the city\u2019s legacy hotels<\/a> have undergone full-scale renovations, with billions being pumped into the Waldorf Astoria alone.)<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI think it was long overdue to keep up with other places around the world who have reputations as being incredible hotel cities, such as London and Paris,\u201d Josh Alexander,\u00a0a luxury travel advisor<\/a>\u00a0with ProTravel International, a Virtuoso agency, told Robb Report. \u201cNew York City<\/a>\u00a0was falling behind.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn short: It\u2019s a race to up the ante that has resulted in \u201csix, even seven star hotels,\u201d said Lesser, although there isn\u2019t any regulated definition of what those stars mean. And as Michelin Keys get doled out to hotels and resorts for the first time, Robb Report decided it was also time to dust off our list of the best hotels in New York City right now, with some extra help and attention from our expert Travel Masters<\/a>. You may notice a few iconic spots, like the Plaza and Mandarin Oriental with its stellar Central Park views, missing from this list. Though they remain cherished in the city, the guest rooms need a refresh; we expect them back in the mix soon. Others, like the Faena, were too new for inclusion.<\/p>\n \n\tIn no particular order, these are the 15 best luxury hotels in New York City in 2025.<\/p>\n \tThe Mark<\/p>\n \t\t\t \n\tAward: Best Crowd\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tHoused in a 1927 landmark building renovated in 2009, the Mark<\/a> oozes Upper East Side. With 106 rooms, 44 suites, and three penthouses\u2014including the largest in New York City<\/a> at 10,000 square feet\u2014designer Jacques Grange has created modern French flair within its walls. But above and beyond that, a stay here gives guests unparalleled perks. There\u2019s special access to Bergdorf Goodman goods via concierge, should you suddenly feel the urge for the perfect pair of Louboutins. Or live like a Kennedy and hire the Mark sailboat, a luxe 70-foot vessel. Sightseeing, anyone? Borrow from a fleet of chic, Mark-branded bikes, or, for the more sedentary, jump in one of their pedicabs. Designed by Henry Stern Churchill, it likes to boast that \u201cwithin these walls, novels have been penned, plays have been scrawled, and scripts have been studied.\u201d It\u2019s certainly a rarity in that it\u2019s privately owned, by Dina De Luca Chartouni and her husband Fouad, who headed up a $25 million renovation in 2017 in collaboration with interior designer Michael S. Smith (highlight reel includes the Obama White House) and architect Mark Pinney (think Harrods, Armani, and Burberry). Its 74 rooms and suites include two-bedroom suites and a penthouse, which rocks three terraces and a Poggenpohl kitchen.
