{"id":323491,"date":"2026-08-17T22:08:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T22:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/323491\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T22:08:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T22:08:08","slug":"funeral-service-for-nypd-officer-rebecca-de-paula-in-nyc-nbc-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/323491\/","title":{"rendered":"Funeral service for NYPD officer Rebecca De Paula in NYC \u2013 NBC New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, family, friends, fellow officers and church brethren gathered for the funeral services of NYPD officer Rebecca De Paula, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/nypd-officer-rebecca-depaula-family-speaks-dominican-republic-death\/6534178\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/nypd-officer-rebecca-depaula-family-speaks-dominican-republic-death\/6534178\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">who passed away<\/a> in the Dominican Republic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De Paula died as a result of a procedure at an esthetics clinic in Santo Domingo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a police officer, she was a very kind woman with children,\u201d said Luis Pimentel, a neighbor of De Paula. \u201cShe was involved in the church; everyone here in the community loved her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to her family, the 31-year-old officer De Paula allegedly contracted a bacterial infection after cosmetic surgery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s painful for anyone to lose a loved one,&#8221; said Jorge Ycasa, a neighbor of the family.<\/p>\n<p>De Paula had been with the NYPD since January 2025 and worked at the 46th Precinct in the Bronx.
