Last month, the chorizo frita\u2014frita is the Cuban take on a burger\u2014was named one of the best burgers in New York City by the New York Times.<\/p>\n
Now, it\u2019s available in Dallas.<\/p>\n
Frita Batidos, a Cuban-inspired burger shop, opened this week in the Knox Henderson neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the Cuban food she grew up eating, Chef Eve Aronoff Fernandez opened the first Frita Batidos 16 years ago.<\/p>\n
The Dallas location is her fourth overall and the first in Texas.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe culture is just so warm and welcoming and hospitable, so it just made sense to open here,\u201d Aronoff Fernandez said.<\/p>\n
In addition to the chorizo Frita, the menu features many other Fritas\u2014burgers\u2014along with a large selection of batidos\u2014tropical milkshakes.<\/p>\n
How does Cuba\u2019s version of burgers and shakes stand out?<\/p>\n
\u201cThe ingredients are so ripe and lush and flavorful,\u201d Aronoff Fernandez said.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why she said Frita Batidos only uses ingredients that are local, fresh, and in-season.<\/p>\n
Aside from the Fritas and batidos, guests can also choose from a Cubano, churros, fried plantains, or something called \u2018the best snack ever,\u2019 a mixture of coconut-ginger rice, slow-cooked black beans, melted Muenster cheese, and fresh cilantro-lime salsa.<\/p>\n
The goal is to bring Cuban culture to life.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like you\u2019re cooking at home with your mom, your grandma, whoever,\u201d Aronoff Fernandez said. \u201cWe really just want to bend over backwards to take care of people and not just say that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The hope is that the food makes guests feel just as welcomed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a good burger,\u201d one customer said. \u201cI\u2019ll be back.\u201d<\/p>\n
