Kathy Hochul directed state agencies to issue full federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November, she announced Friday. As the federal government shutdown continues and a lack of clarity on federal distribution among a legal battle, the governor said the first New Yorkers can expect to begin having access to their benefits on Sunday.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0Cornell paying $60 million in deal with Trump administration to restore funding<\/a><\/p>\n The university will pay $30 million over three years to the U.S. federal government to end pending claims brought against it, and an additional $30 million into research to support agriculture in the U.S., the university said. It added the agreement is not an admission of wrongdoing.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0Upstate New York airports start to see flight cancellations, delays<\/a><\/p>\n The number of flight cancellations and delays are likely to steadily increase at our nation\u2019s busiest airports. The Federal Aviation Administration has ordered a reduction in air traffic due to the government shutdown. Forty of what the government calls \u201chigh-impact\u201d airports are affected.\u00a0Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester airports aren\u2019t included on that list, but it does have flights to and from airports that are.\u00a0<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0GOP leaders quickly coalesce around Stefanik in campaign for New York governor<\/a><\/p>\n Hours after\u00a0she announced she would run for New York governor in 2026, Republican U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik reported that GOP leaders around the state have quickly coalesced around her campaign to take on Gov. Kathy Hochul next year. Stefanik said Friday afternoon that 56 county Republican chairs, representing more than 72% of the weighted vote, have endorsed the North Country congresswoman\u2019s campaign, putting her well on the way to become the party’s preferred nominee.<\/p>\n
