Queen Camilla is being unusually open about navigating King Charles\u2019s cancer diagnosis. In a new video<\/a> promoting Maggie\u2019s \u2014 a U.K. cancer-care charity of which the queen is president \u2014 Camilla remembered visiting the charity in 2024 while her spouse\u2019s diagnosis was not yet public.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember coming to see a Maggie\u2019s just after the king being diagnosed,\u201d Camilla said, \u201cand nobody could say anything for a time. That was quite difficult.\u201d She noted that she is someone who \u201calways said something.\u201d But she felt that, while visiting people with cancer and their families, it wasn\u2019t the right time for her to share her own story. \u201cI was just longing to let it out but obviously I couldn\u2019t,\u201d she said, adding that she was \u201calmost questioning\u201d people for insights on supporting a loved one with cancer. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to pry too deeply but \u2026 I felt it was much more deep,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer<\/a> in February 2024 but did not release other details. In 2025, the palace announced<\/a> that his condition was improving and that his treatment would be \u201cscaled back.\u201d The king said in a public broadcast, \u201cThis milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care.\u201d<\/p>\n
