Several Queens residents were on hand for the Queens International Food and Music Festival on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Phil \u201cScooter\u201d Rizzuto Park.<\/p>\n

The Queens International Food and Music Festival marked its ninth year of operation on Sunday, Aug. 16, at Phil \u201cScooter\u201d Rizzuto Park<\/a>\u00a0in Richmond Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The event featured a plethora of food and music from all over the world and was free and open to the public.

Tables featured at the event included EmblemHealth<\/a> (the Grand and Title Sponsor of the event), Cottage Home Care Services<\/a>, Leonora Primary School, Clasique Cutz Barbershop, Island Zone Radio<\/a>, Legend Cookhouse<\/a>, JN Money<\/a>, Sovereign Realty of NY<\/a>, Pinnacle Signature Realty LLC<\/a> and Dave\u2019s Guyana Fish and Grocery Market. Many of these tables gave out freebies, such as tote bags, T-shirts, pens, stress balls, chip clips, popcorn and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the festival, guests could try a wide array of food options. At Dave\u2019s Guyana Fish and Grocery\u2019s table, there were drinks of different flavors and delicacies from Guyana to try and purchase. Legend Cookhouse, a Guyanese\/Caribbean restaurant, had an assortment of sauces on sale, and Yummy Dips sold chocolate-covered strawberries.<\/p>\n

The event also included a cooking contest. For two hours, restaurants such as Food by Parika, Regent Lounge and Kaieteur Restaurant were tasked with a challenge to complete a dish \u2013 duck curry and baigan choka. The best-tasting one was crowned the winner.<\/p>\n

Throughout the event, guests also got to enjoy musical acts from various artists of Guyanese and Caribbean descent, which included singing and dancing. Musical acts featured included Brian Mohan<\/a>, a Trinidad and Tobago-based artist singing Bollywood hits, and Randy \u201cRecklez\u201d Ramdin<\/a>, a Queens-based Caribbean artist who performed alongside Angels Caribbean Band<\/a> (ACB), and Geeta Bisram, frontwoman of ACB. A dance performance was held by Dancing Queen Shelly Ramnanan, a cultural dance troupe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
