Only Staten Island has a higher percentage, at 60.3%.\n<\/p>\n<p>Nonfamily owners account for the second-highest percentage of homeowners in Queens, at 26.9%. Another 14.2% are female-led family owners. The last 6.4% are male-led family owners.\n<\/p>\n<p>Three Queens neighborhoods rank among the top ten for the highest percentage of female-led family homeownership. These include Brookville in fifth place at 32.1%, <a href=\"https:\/\/qns.com\/neighborhoods\/st-albans\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Albans<\/a> in sixth at 31.5% and <a href=\"https:\/\/qns.com\/neighborhoods\/springfield-gardens\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Springfield Gardens<\/a> in eighth at 31.2%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/qns.com\/?attachment_id=620354\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-620354 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-620354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/top-10-neighborhoods-where-female-led-families-have-the-highest-shares-in-homeownership-with-age-bre.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1220\" height=\"864\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>New York City\u2019s homeownership is 50.8% among married-couple families, 31% non-family owners, 12.7% female-led family owners and 5.5% male-led family owners.\n<\/p>\n<p>A majority of homeowners in Queens are between the ages of 35 and 64. This age group accounts for 53.1% of the borough\u2019s homeowners, compared to 39.9% among those at least 65 years of age and 7% for people under 35.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/qns.com\/?attachment_id=620355\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-620355 nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-620355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/homeownership-by-age-groups-across-nyc-boroughs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1220\" height=\"850\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>New York City\u2019s homeownership by age group included 53.9% among those between 35 and 64 years of age, 38.2% for those over 65 and 8% for people younger than 35.\n<\/p>\n<p>Queens led the way among all New York City boroughs with the highest homeownership percentage for married-couple families in the 35-64 age group, at approximately 31%. This data shows that Queens is the number one preferred spot for middle-aged and older couples and families looking to buy a home in New York City.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nearly 53% of Queens homes are owned by married-couple families.
