ShotSpotter is the NYPD\u2019s citywide network of sensors designed to detect possible sounds of gunfire and evoke a rapid police response.<\/p>\n<p>When the officers arrived at the scene, police reported, they came upon an unidentified adult male who suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and right torso shortly before 10 p.m.\n<\/p>\n<p>Paramedics rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition; the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-137865711\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/brooklyn-shooting-lloyd-mitchell-08222026-2.jpg\" alt=\"police investigate shooting in brooklyn\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" title=\"Brooklyn shooting leaves man dead in likely road rage incident, suspects still at large: cops 2\"  \/>Officers from the 75th Precinct responded to a ShotSpotter activation and a 911 call about the shooting at 899 Crescent St. in East New York just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 21.Photo by Lloyd Mitchell\n<\/p>\n<p>So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation. Detectives were said to be looking for an individual in a black Lexus that sped away in an unknown direction at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>While the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/post\/east-new-york-shooting-man-killed-apparent-road-rage-incident-crescent-street-gunman-sought\/19717734\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ABC7 reported<\/a> police are looking into the possibility that it may have been triggered by road rage. All calls and messages are kept confidential.<\/p>\n<p>Through Aug. 16, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/assets\/nypd\/downloads\/pdf\/crime_statistics\/cs-en-us-075pct.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">75th Precinct reported nine homicides year-to-date<\/a>, one less than the 10 tallied at the same point in 2025.
