{"id":328285,"date":"2026-08-24T11:14:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T11:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/328285\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T11:14:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T11:14:07","slug":"us-open-kicks-off-fan-week-with-arthur-ashe-kids-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/328285\/","title":{"rendered":"US Open kicks off Fan Week with Arthur Ashe Kids Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tennis fans were welcomed into the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Queens on Sunday as Arthur Ashe Kids Day kicked off the beginning of Fan Week at <a href=\"https:\/\/ny1.com\/nyc\/queens\/news\/2026\/08\/04\/a-guide-to-the-2026-u-s--open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the US Open<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The free event brought out fans of all ages, including Kennedy Bullock, who said the annual event gets her excited for the rest of the festivities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it makes people like want to watch tennis more, because they see all the cool events happening,\u201d Bullock said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The day was filled with free activities people can expect in the week ahead.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo much of these events are expensive and a little bit like not appropriate for kids or not as fun for kids. So, it&#8217;s nice to see something that&#8217;s just like entirely oriented around kids,\u201d visitor Aidan Thomas said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fans can get a close look at their favorite players practicing and they can test out their own skills with kid-friendly tennis drills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Balloon artists, food and live music can also be found on the tennis grounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Michael Fiur, executive producer of entertainment, said there\u2019s always something different to check out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an amazing new light and laser show that will be in Arthur Ashe Stadium every night,\u201d Fiur said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event has only grown since live music first came to Arthur Ashe Kids Day in 1997.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a new sonic identity, this music that&#8217;s been created just to be the sound of the Open that is going to be so cool,\u201d Fiur said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Fiur, roughly 40,000 people were expected for Kids Day alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are coming with families, people who have never come to the US Open.
