JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — A resident suffered injuries after jumping from a third-floor window to escape a fire that ripped through a multifamily home in the Jamaica section of Queens Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Firefighters responded to 90-29 138th Place shortly after 7 a.m. and found flames burning on the top floor of the three-story building. Heavy fire could be seen shooting from the windows as crews battled the blaze.<\/p>\n

Officials said one resident jumped from a third-floor window during the fire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

The fire was brought under control less than an hour later, according to officials.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
