Lil\u2019 Kim is taking \u2018Hard Core\u2019 somewhere it has never gone before. The Brooklyn rap legend will present \u201cHard Core Symphony\u201d at Kings Theatre on November 19, transforming her landmark debut album for her first-ever live orchestral performance.<\/p>\n

The one-night-only concert will pair Lil\u2019 Kim with Thee Phantom & The Illharmonic Orchestra, the all-Black ensemble known for combining hip-hop and R&B with strings, horns, woodwinds, piano, DJing and live vocals.<\/p>\n

The timing gives the show extra significance. \u2018Hard Core\u2019 arrived in 1996, making 2026 the album\u2019s 30th anniversary and turning the Brooklyn performance into a hometown celebration of one of hip-hop\u2019s defining debuts.<\/p>\n

Executive produced by The Notorious B.I.G., \u2018Hard Core\u2019 established Lil\u2019 Kim as one of rap\u2019s most distinctive voices, pairing explicit lyricism, fearless style and a commanding presence with songs that became fixtures of 1990s hip-hop.<\/p>\n

For \u201cHard Core Symphony,\u201d material including \u201cNot Tonight (Ladies Night Remix),\u201d \u201cBig Momma Thang,\u201d \u201cCrush on You\u201d and \u201cNo Time\u201d will be rebuilt around a full live orchestra.<\/p>\n

That alone makes this one of the more fascinating anniversary concerts on the calendar. Hearing Lil\u2019 Kim\u2019s sharp, unmistakable delivery placed against orchestral arrangements should give songs fans have known for decades an entirely different scale and texture.<\/p>\n

Thee Phantom & The Illharmonic Orchestra have spent more than 25 years bringing hip-hop into orchestral spaces. Fronted by husband-and-wife duo Phantom and Phoenix, the ensemble has performed at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Apollo and The Kimmel Center.<\/p>\n

The evening is also leaning fully into the grandeur of the concept. Guests are being encouraged to arrive in formal black-tie attire, turning Kings Theatre into a celebration of both the album and Lil\u2019 Kim\u2019s influence on music, fashion and hip-hop culture.<\/p>\n

\u2018Hard Core\u2019 was certified Double Platinum by the RIAA and produced 3 consecutive No. 1 rap singles with \u201cNo Time,\u201d \u201cNot Tonight (Ladies Night Remix)\u201d and \u201cCrush on You.\u201d The run made Lil\u2019 Kim the first female rapper to score 3 consecutive No. 1 singles on Billboard\u2019s rap songs chart.<\/p>\n

Her success continued with Platinum-certified albums \u2018The Notorious K.I.M.\u2019 and \u2018La Bella Mafia,\u2019 while \u201cLady Marmalade,\u201d alongside Christina Aguilera, Pink and M\u00fda, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001.<\/p>\n

Lil\u2019 Kim\u2019s career has also stretched well beyond records. Her acting credits include \u2018She\u2019s All That,\u2019 \u2018Zoolander,\u2019 \u2018Juwanna Man\u2019 and \u2018You Got Served,\u2019 while her television appearances have included \u2018Moesha,\u2019 \u2018The Game,\u2019 \u2018Countdown to Lockdown\u2019 and \u2018Dancing with the Stars.\u2019<\/p>\n

Brooklyn has remained a major part of that story. She performed at Barclays Center during the Bad Boy Reunion Tour in 2016 and received a New York City proclamation that same year recognizing her contributions to hip-hop.<\/p>\n
