A Unity Party candidate, Francesca Castellanos, got 2.6 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>The progressive De La Rosa, who immigrated to NYC from the Dominican Republic when she was young and grew up in Inwood, is part of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>According to City &amp; State, she initially sought to mount a bid to become City Council Speaker\u2014a race that is heating up\u2014before endorsing Crystal Hudson, a progressive Brooklyn City Council Member, instead.
