{"id":328932,"date":"2026-08-25T02:10:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T02:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/328932\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T02:10:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T02:10:12","slug":"amc-kips-bay-15-closing-at-the-end-of-the-year-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/328932\/","title":{"rendered":"AMC Kips Bay 15 closing at the end of the year: reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AMC Kips Bay 15 theater will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/news\/nyc-will-lose-one-of-its-few-imax-theaters-when-this-popular-amc-location-shuts-down-later-this-year-082426\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">roll credits<\/a> for the last time at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the theater chain told Variety the IMAX theater\u2019s 15 screens are expected to remain active until 2026 comes to a close \u201cat which time the theatre will close following the property owner\u2019s decision to exercise its contractual right to terminate the theatre\u2019s lease before its scheduled expiration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That theater on Second Avenue near E. 31st Street is AMC\u2019s second-largest multiplex in Manhattan, according to Time Out. It opened in 1999 and has been operated by AMC for 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>The movie house is currently screening <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amctheatres.com\/movie-theatres\/new-york-city\/amc-kips-bay-15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">blockbuster films<\/a> including \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d and \u201cSpider-Man: Brand New Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"The AMC Kips Bay 15 movie theater in Manhattan is pictured on Aug. 17, 2020 in New York City.
