A newly created political action group has vowed to inject millions of dollars into the New York gubernatorial race to help get Bruce Blakeman elected<\/a> \u2014 by highlighting Gov. Kathy Hochul\u2019s ties to \u201cZohran Mamdani and the radical Marxist, Jihadi wing of the Democratic Party.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cDefend Empire State\u201d PAC was created to boost the Republican\u2019s campaign to knock Hochul out of office by Jason Meister<\/a>, a President Trump supporter who ran a \u201cDefend NYC\u201d PAC that targeted Mayor Zohran Mamdani during last year\u2019s City Hall race.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to initiate the most aggressive campaign to defeat Kathy Hochul and the Marxist, Communist wing of the Democratic Party Hochul is an enabler of,\u201d Meister, a risk insurance specialist, told The Post after registering his group with the state Board of Elections.<\/p>\n

He called Blakeman a \u201ccommon sense, right-of-center\u201d candidate who will be a good governor.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlakeman will be a check on Mamdani.<\/a> Hochul isn\u2019t,\u201d Meister said.<\/p>\n

A review of campaign records from last year\u2019s mayoral race shows that Meister has access to well-heeled donors. Hedge fund honcho Bill Ackman <\/a>and the Airbnb co-founder Joseph Gebbia <\/a>each donated $1 million to his Defend NYC PAC during the final weeks of the campaign.<\/p>\n

As an independent expenditure Super PAC, the pro-Blakeman group <\/a>can raise unlimited sums of cash.<\/p>\n

\u201cHochul is an accidental governor,\u201d Meister said, referring to the former lieutenant governor assuming the governorship after Andrew Cuomo resigned in 2021 amid sexual misconduct accusations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to expose her record and her relationship with Mamdani.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meister said the race has implications beyond New York.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a national conversation. We don\u2019t want the radical Marxist contagion to metastasize to other cities and states,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meister serves on Trump\u2019s advisory board and is not afraid to stir up controversy himself.<\/p>\n

He told The Post last year that the Jan. 6, 2001, riots at the Capitol should be declared a national holiday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat would be the biggest way to honor these American heroes who risked their lives, freedom and honor to protest what they perceived to be a stolen election,\u201d Meister said at the time.<\/p>\n

Blakeman could use <\/a>the outside cash.<\/p>\n

The PAC targets Gov. Kathy Hochul by linking her to \u201cradical Marxist\u201d elements and Mayor Zohran Mamdani. Lev Radin\/ZUMA \/ SplashNews.com<\/p>\n

The Hochul campaign and the state Democratic Party combined have a nearly 4-to-1 financial advantage over Blakeman and the New York Republican Party, with $40 million to spend for the home stretch.<\/p>\n

Another pro-Blakeman Super PAC called \u201cStrong and Safe New York,\u201d which is bankrolled by Knicks owner James Dolan, is running a million-dollar ad campaign slamming the incumbent governor.<\/p>\n

In response, Hochul\u2019s campaign launched its own multi-million dollar ad offensive last week that links Blakeman to Trump, <\/a>describing her rival as \u201c100% MAGA\u201d and claiming that he\u2019ll \u201calways put Trump ahead of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has a 60% job disapproval rate in New York, according to a recent Siena University poll.<\/p>\n

Hochul, 67, defeated Republican Lee Zeldin, now the US Environmental Protection Agency administrator, by 6 percentage points in 2022. She is now seeking a second full, four-year term.<\/p>\n

Blakeman, 70, is the current Nassau County executive.<\/p>\n

State Democratic Party spokesperson Dick Addison responded,\u00a0\u201cFirst Bruce Blakeman did Donald Trump\u2019s election denial, now he\u2019s getting propped up by election deniers \u2013 like a Trump campaign advisor who wants<\/a> January 6 to be a national holiday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
