On Monday, the New York Yankees<\/a> have the day off following a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> in the Bronx.<\/p>\n

The Yankees won Sunday\u2019s game by a score of 8-3 (and took two out of three in the series).<\/p>\n

Insider Makes Statement On Stanton Future\"\"\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the weekend, there was a big update on Giancarlo Stanton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has been out since April 24 with an injury.<\/p>\n

MLB.com wrote<\/a> (on August 22): \u201cSustained a \u201cmoderate\u201d left calf strain after falling while running bases Aug. 20. Had been nearing the recovery of a right calf strain. Manager Aaron Boone said the club is \u201cnot ruling anything out\u201d but acknowledged it will be difficult for Stanton to return in time to contribute this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the update, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic spoke about Stanton (via Foul Territory<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Kuty: \u201cLook, Giancarlo Stanton is a proud veteran, he\u2019s someone who\u2019s accomplished a lot in this game. He\u2019s someone who thinks that he\u2019s got more in the tank, right? He wouldn\u2019t be out here trying to get back on the field if he didn\u2019t think he could get back on the field, if he didn\u2019t want to get back on the field. He\u2019s got a lot to play for. The Yankees, he\u2019s real respected in that clubhouse. Just last season, he was kind of getting into his teammates to perform better, to perform up to their standards in a closed-door meeting in their clubhouse in Texas. He also just is 40 home runs shy of 500. I mean, he\u2019s got a lot to play for. There\u2019s still one more year left on his deal. And if I\u2019m Giancarlo Stanton, I try to keep playing.\u201d<\/p>\n
