NEW YORK (Gray News) – Country music legend Dolly Parton died Tuesday at her home in Nashville, Tennessee, her family announced.<\/p>\n

In honor of the icon, the tower lights on New York City\u2019s Empire State Building turned to a pink sparkle Tuesday at 9:25 p.m.<\/p>\n

The dedicated 9:25 p.m. time is symbolic because one of Parton\u2019s most notorious songs is titled \u201c9 to 5\u201d<\/a>, written for the 1980 film, starring Parton alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.<\/p>\n

\u201cDolly was a global cultural icon whose seven-decade career reached generations of fans. Beyond entertainment, Dolly leaves a significant philanthropic legacy through the Dollywood Foundation and Imagination Library, which has provided hundreds of millions of books to children worldwide,\u201d the Empire State Building shared<\/a> in a social media post.<\/p>\n

The building\u2019s LED lighting system<\/a> is regularly used throughout the year to recognize important holidays and occasions, including Parton\u2019s death in this case.<\/p>\n

Parton was 80 years old.<\/p>\n
