WASHINGTON \u2014 Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/a> was slapped Tuesday with an ethics complaint from a watchdog group accusing him of misusing city resources to boost multiple Empire State Democrats, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n

The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust<\/a> urged the city\u2019s Conflicts of Interest Board<\/a> to launch a probe into Hizzoner\u2019s endorsements of both Gov. Kathy Hochul\u2019s re-election campaign and Lindsey Boylan\u2019s failed bid for City Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe write today to request you investigate Mayor Zohran Mamdani for using his official position and public resources for political activity,\u201d reads the complaint<\/a> from FACT, a Washington DC-based nonprofit.<\/p>\n

The letter cited an advisory opinion from the board in 2009 advising Big Apple pols against using city resources to endorse candidates.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeparating official activities from political ones is the foundation of sound ethics laws and imperative to maintain the public\u2019s trust in government,\u201d FACT executive director Kendra Arnold told The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe use of public resources to influence the political process gives a clear and unfair advantage to the individual or party in power,\u201d Arnold said. \u201cAllowing this conduct to go unchecked and unpunished is a threat to the democratic process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hizzoner backed Gov. Kathy Hochul\u2019s reelection bid as an overture to the Democratic establishment. She previously endorsed him in the general election for the mayoral race.<\/p>\n

In its complaint, FACT homed in on three alleged violations by Mamdani since shortly after he ascended to Gracie Mansion in January.<\/p>\n

First was his February endorsement of Hochul, the Democratic incumbent running for a second, full four-year term, during a press conference on universal childcare. <\/p>\n

The socialist mayor had penned an op-ed<\/a> giving the moderate gov his official stamp of approval. But during a press conference shortly after, he said of Hochul, \u201cI\u2019m proud to endorse her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group also noted Mamdani\u2019s endorsement of Boylan<\/a> \u2014 the first woman to publicly accuse Cuomo of harassment \u2014 during an April press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision to endorse Lindsey is one that comes more from having seen her bravery and her courage in standing up over the years,\u201d Mamdani said at the time<\/a>. \u201cEarly voting will continue through the 26th. And it\u2019s something that I\u2019m glad to join my name to [support her].\u201d<\/p>\n

The complaint then cited his June press conference addressing a heat wave beating down on New Yorkers \u2014 where he gave his stamp of approval to eight candidates running in the Democratic primaries that month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am looking forward to New Yorkers hearing about Claire, Darializa [and] Brad; [and] when it comes to the state legislator, Aber Kawas, Eli Northrup, Illapa Sairitupac, Samantha Kattan [and] Brian Romero,\u201d he said then. \u201cThese are all candidates that I\u2019m very excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n

FACT noted that in all three instances, Mamdani stood behind the seal of New York City and that his team put transcripts of those press conferences on the city website. The watchdog is urging the board to \u201cimpose the proper penalties\u201d on him.<\/p>\n

Mamdani\u2019s predecessor, former Mayor Eric Adams, was hit with a $4,000 fine<\/a> from the board in February after his staffers put multicolored whistles on reporters\u2019 chairs during a press conference last year to jab at the harassment accusations against former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n

The mayor\u2019s office didn\u2019t return a request for comment.<\/p>\n
