QUEEN CREEK, AZ (AZFamily) \u2014 A Queen Creek woman who worked with children with autism at an Action Behavior Center is facing two counts of aggravated assault on kids in her care. <\/p>\n
According to court documents, the worker, identified as Khamara Holmes, threw a yoga ball at one child\u2019s head and grabbed another child by the wrists and tossed them into a bathroom as they screamed and cried.<\/p>\n
Mother describes finding out<\/p>\n
Brandy Haines said she dropped her 5-year-old autistic son off at the Action Behavior Center in Queen Creek in February. Hours later, she received a call informing her that Holmes, who worked directly with children with autism at the center, had allegedly assaulted her son.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heart fell in my stomach. Because who\u2019s going to do that to a kid? Who\u2019s going to do that to my baby?\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n
What the police report says<\/p>\n
According to a police report, Holmes attempted to throw a large yoga ball at the 5-year-old\u2019s head. Police say she then picked him up by the wrists and threw him to the ground.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor someone to just do that, it\u2019s insane to me. Insane. They\u2019re so vulnerable,\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n
Court documents show that on the same day, Holmes grabbed another child by the wrists and tossed them into a bathroom as they screamed and cried. <\/p>\n
Witnesses reported Holmes yelled \u201cshut up\u201d and later admitted she \u201chad been hurting kids all day,\u201d according to court documents.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo child deserves to be assaulted at their place where they\u2019re learning. It\u2019s just crazy to think,\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s next<\/p>\n
Haines said she wants accountability.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just want accountability. I want justice for my son,\u201d Haines said.<\/p>\n
Action Behavior Centers has not responded to a request for information about how long Holmes worked there and whether the company terminated her employment.<\/p>\n
Holmes\u2019 preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31.<\/p>\n
