\n\tTwo New York City<\/a> icons shone a dazzling pink last night in honor of another icon, the great Dolly Parton<\/a>, who died yesterday following a brief battle with cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tBoth the Empire State Building<\/a> and the One Times Square<\/a> New Year\u2019s Eve dropping ball were lit with pink lights in Parton\u2019s memory. Fittingly, both sites turned on their Parton-inspired lights at 9:25 p.m. Say it out loud: Nine Two Five. 9 to 5.<\/p>\n

Tonight, the Empire State Building tower lights will turn to a pink sparkle at 9:25 to honor the late Dolly Parton. <\/p>\n

\n\tAlso going pink at 9:25 was the New Year\u2019s Eve Ball at One Times Square, which kept its new look from that minute until 5 a.m. \u2013 another 9 To 5 movie and song reference.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe all know Dolly loved a little extra sparkle,\u201d says a note on the social media pages of One Times Square. \u201cJoin us tonight between 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. to see the New Year\u2019s Eve Ball sparkle pink in her memory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNew York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called Parton \u201can extraordinary person and an irreplaceable champion of the working class. We are a better country because of her.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tParton\u2019s death prompted an outpouring of grief, condolences and tributes from the worlds of music<\/a>, TV<\/a>, film<\/a> and theater<\/a>.<\/p>\n
