Fire officials said a fire was reported in the basement of a home before other buildings caught fire. It quickly escalated to a second alarm.<\/p>\n<p>Video showed the flames shooting from the home and heavy smoke pouring into the air. Firefighters were on the roof trying to extinguish the blaze.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/south-ozone-park-fire-citizen-2-hi-res-still.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"south-ozone-park-fire-citizen-2-hi-res-still.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Flames engulfed a South Ozone Park, Queens, home after starting in the basement, firefighters said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>                Citizen<\/p>\n<p>One person inside one of the homes had to be rescued. That person was treated at the scene but did not want to go to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>One firefighter is also being evaluated by EMS.<\/p>\n<p>Con Edison was also called in due to power lines being knocked down behind the homes.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire remains under investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
