Grint will join the Broadway production in what is shaping up to be a particularly nostalgic reunion for fans of the original Potter movies. The actor will play the adult version of Ron, who is now a husband and father and back in the Wizarding World alongside Harry and Hermione.

Cursed Child picks up 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with Harry, Ron and Hermione’s children preparing to attend Hogwarts. The play centers on Harry’s son Albus and Draco Malfoy’s son Scorpius, whose friendship sets off a chain of magical trouble that threatens to rewrite the past.

Grint’s return comes as Broadway’s Cursed Child has already welcomed another major piece of Potter movie history: Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the original films, is currently reprising his role as an adult Draco on Broadway through January 3, 2027. Grint is scheduled to remain with the show through May 30.

Cursed Child originally opened in London in 2016 before making its Broadway debut in 2018 as a two-night epic. The production has since undergone some changes, including a move to a one-part format when it reopened on Broadway in 2021 after COVID closures.

And considering how much Potter fans love a reunion, Broadway may want to start stocking up on Butterbeer.
