This is \u201cSmall Bites,\u201d a South Florida Sun Sentinel feature with tidbits on the food and beverage scene \u2014 because we know that sometimes you just don\u2019t have room for a long article. You want a little news brief instead, an amuse bouche of information, if you will. Enjoy!<\/p>\n

WHAT: For those in the know, The Brooklyn Room is open.<\/p>\n

The new speakeasy is hidden inside the recently-opened Common Room<\/a> restaurant just off Young Circle in downtown Hollywood. It\u2019s a room within a room, if you will.<\/p>\n

If you simply walk in, you may never be able to find The Brooklyn Room.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t worry. We got you: Just locate the inconspicuous bookshelf in the hallway next to the server station. That bookshelf is actually a door. You pull on the bookshelf\u2019s frame and it reveals the hidden entrance. (Yeah, it\u2019s giving big-time IYKYK.)<\/p>\n

But wait, if only it were that simple.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe manager gives final approval for access,\u201d co-owner Eric Douglas said. \u201cWe send out weekly invites that allow booking reservations through a provided link. The manager still gives final approval to ensure the dress code is met, the party size is accurate and \u2014 most importantly \u2014 that there\u2019s availability.<\/p>\n

\u201cReservations don\u2019t always guarantee access,\u201d he added, \u201cso it\u2019s important to arrive on time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both The Brooklyn Room and Common Room are part of Bol Hospitality Group<\/a>, which includes culinary concepts such as The Bol Asian Cuisine, Social Room, Bae Korean Grill<\/a> and Davidoff of Geneva cigar lounge.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a helpful clue if you are hoping for an imbibe-invite.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile access to The Brooklyn Room speakeasy is by invitation-only, becoming a familiar face at any of Bol Hospitality Group\u2019s establishments doesn\u2019t hurt your possibilities of getting an invite,\u201d Douglas said.<\/p>\n

Oh, and not only is the cocktail program (designed by Unfiltered Hospitality<\/a>) inspired by the Brooklyn borough, but so are the beats \u2014 we\u2019re talking old-school hip hop and jazz.<\/p>\n
