NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2013 SNAP benefits<\/a> are expected to be distributed to New York City residents beginning on Sunday, according to Mayor Eric Adams.<\/p>\n

Adams made the announcement on X<\/a>, writing, \u201cThank you, @GovKathyHochul, for ensuring our families are taken care of and fed. SNAP funds will be dispersed starting tomorrow, but New Yorkers can always access resources to find groceries or meals. We will always take care of each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hochul initially announced on Friday that she directed state agencies to give out full SNAP benefits to New Yorkers. She later posted a video<\/a> to X on Saturday, where she wrote in the caption, \u201cDonald Trump is going to extraordinary\u00a0lengths to ensure millions of Americans go hungry.\u00a0 To every New Yorker impacted by this depraved decision: I have your back and I\u2019m not going to back down from this fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s video followed a Supreme Court ruling on Friday that allowed the Trump administration not to fully fund SNAP<\/a>. The federal government appealed an earlier court order that would force it to pay for SNAP in full instead of partially.<\/p>\n

NY SNAP recipients can double their fruit and vegetable purchases <\/a><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how much New Yorkers who get for maximum SNAP benefits are given per month:<\/p>\n

5-person household: $1,183<\/p>\n

6-person household: $1,421<\/p>\n

7-person household: $1,571<\/p>\n

8-person household: $1,789<\/p>\n

Each additional person in a household: $218+<\/p>\n
