NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — A man was arrested on Saturday, accused of killing two people in separate shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx in the span of a week, according to police.<\/p>\n
Jesus Acosta<\/a>, 31, was arrested on Saturday morning after allegedly killing store worker MD Yousef, 44, in Brooklyn and deli customer Tayvon Shuler, 33, in the Bronx, authorities announced in a social media post.<\/p>\n \u00a0Stay connected with community stories that matter: Visit our homepage\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n “Thank you to our cops, detectives, and New Yorkers for their work on locating him,” read the post about Acosta’s arrest.<\/p>\n Authorities had been on the hunt for the shooter after Yousef was killed last Saturday<\/a> in a restaurant on Rockaway Avenue, police said.<\/p>\n \u00a0More Local News\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n “Very good person,” said store owner Shekh Rasel of Yousef. “Warm-hearted. Very welcoming. Where are the Congressmembers, Assemblymembers, State Senators, Councilmembers, borough presidents, Mayor and Governor?,” said Spokesperson of the United Bodegas of America, Fernando Mateo on Shuler.<\/p>\n “Why aren’t they siding with us? Where have they gone and why do they hide? Where do they live? Are they not seeing and hearing what’s happening?”<\/p>\n \u00a0Get ongoing crime and safety coverage on our homepage\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n The UBA offered a $10,000 for the shooter’s arrest.<\/p>\n Sources told PIX11 Acosta was on parole and that his parole officer connected him to both shootings.<\/p>\n “We thank the NYPD and FBI for capturing Jesus Acosta, but the justice system failed when a violent repeat offender with 13 prior arrests was released and returned to our streets. Two innocent people are dead.
