{"id":333244,"date":"2026-08-30T16:40:18","date_gmt":"2026-08-30T16:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/333244\/"},"modified":"2026-08-30T16:40:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T16:40:18","slug":"guy-pearce-gives-priscilla-queen-of-the-desert-2-filming-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/333244\/","title":{"rendered":"Guy Pearce Gives &#8216;Priscilla, Queen of the Desert 2&#8217; Filming Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tA year after the loss of their Bernadette Bassenger, Priscilla is tuning up for another fabulous adventure across the Australian Outback.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/guy-pearce\/\" id=\"auto-tag_guy-pearce\" data-tag=\"guy-pearce\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Guy Pearce<\/a> recently gave an update on the production timeline for the sequel to 1994\u2019s The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, following co-star Terence Stamp\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/08\/terence-stamp-dies-87-1236490234\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">death at age 87<\/a> last August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWell, the sequel, which is going to be\u2014what are we now, \u201926?\u201d Pearce told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DcRyhzNifbb\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsi=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Good Morning America<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ll probably shoot it \u201927, it\u2019ll come out \u201928.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWritten and directed by Stephan Elliott, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert stars Hugo Weaving, Stamp and Pearce as Mitzi Del Bra, Bernadette Bassenger and Felicia Jollygoodfellow, three drag queens who take their act on the road across Australia in a giant bus named Priscilla.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn 2024, Deadline reported that a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/04\/priscilla-queen-of-the-desert-movie-sequel-original-cast-1235890358\/\">sequel was in the works<\/a> with the original cast returning. \u201cI\u2019m not repeating myself, we\u2019ll start the new film in Australia, but by God, we\u2019re going on one helluva journey,\u201d Elliott revealed. \u201cThe original cast is on board, I\u2019ve got a script that everybody likes, we\u2019re still working out deals. \u2026 It\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Priscilla-Queen-of-the-Desert.jpg\" alt=\"Terence Stamp, Guy Pearce and Hugo Weaving in 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' (1994)\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"577\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tTerence Stamp, Guy Pearce and Hugo Weaving in \u2018The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert\u2019 (1994)<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGramercy Pictures\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAfter Stamp\u2019s family <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/08\/terence-stamp-dies-87-1236490234\/\">announced his death<\/a> on Aug. 17, 2025, Elliott noted that he \u201cdecided to pre-shoot all the Bernadette scenes\u201d as the actor \u201cwasn\u2019t getting any younger, and that\u2019s a fact he loved to shove down our throats almost every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWhen the AI wars broke out, Terence was indignant that he didn\u2019t want a digital clone of himself playing Bernadette,\u201d explained Elliott. \u201cHe wanted the chance to put the character down himself. And I will quote him in this case.
