Brown County Jail<\/p>\n<p>Jacobs was charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property by the Brown County (Wis.) district attorney this past week stemming from an incident with his girlfriend in May. <\/p>\n<p>He is alleged to have grabbed his girlfriend and thrown her to the ground at his Wisconsin home, causing her to hit her head.<\/p>\n<p>The heated spat allegedly stemmed from Jacobs\u2019 girlfriend accusing him of \u201ctalking to other girls,\u201d according to the court filing.  <\/p>\n<p>The alleged incident <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/28\/sports\/josh-jacobs-alleged-attack-on-girlfriend-is-on-video-prosecutor\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was captured by surveillance footage<\/a>, a prosecutor said. <\/p>\n<p>Packers head coach Matt LaFleur <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/29\/sports\/packers-coach-matt-lafleur-fully-expects-josh-jacobs-to-be-on-team-after-disturbing-charges\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said this past week<\/a> that he \u201cfully anticipates him being a member of your team\u201d despite the charges. <\/p>\n<p>He is not due in court until Nov. 17. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40583787\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/josh-jacobs-8-green-bay-138582735.jpg\" alt=\"Josh Jacobs of the Green Bay Packers works out before a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals at Ray Nitschke Field.\" class=\"wp-image-40583787\"\/>Josh Jacobs in drills during Packers practice on Aug. 26, 2026.  Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The NFL can still decide to suspend him. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJosh Jacobs has been placed on the Commissioner\u2019s Exempt List, which is an administrative procedure used by the NFL while a matter is being reviewed,\u201d Jacobs\u2019 attorneys said in a statement. \u201cIt is not a final determination.\u00a0Josh respects the NFL process, the Packers, and his Coaches and Teammates. He looks forward to his return to the team and the NFL.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amid the league\u2019s decision, the Packers are in the process of trading for running back Kaleb Johnson from the Steelers, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobs, who is entering his third season with the Packers after spending his first five years in the league with the Raiders, accumulated 1,211 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns last year. <\/p>\n<p>In 2022, he led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards, and he\u2019s surpassed 1,000 rushing yards four times in his career. <\/p>\n<p>Johnson, whom the Steelers drafted in the third round in 2025, saw minimal playing time as a rookie last season. <\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Additional reporting by Edward Lewis<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Josh Jacobs will now be away from the Packers as his off-field charges continue to be investigated.
