The sunken living area is all parquet floors and dark-stained wooden built-ins — a bold choice, but honestly a good place to toss the Mike Wallace doorstops you’ve been meaning to crack open — and it’s all anchored around a custom decorative fireplace. The windowed kitchen comes with a pass-through breakfast bar, which most folks would appreciate, and forest-green countertops, which are less universally appealing. Things are fairly tame by comparison in the bedrooms, with beamed ceilings and enough space for a queen-size bed. The bathroom comes with a soaking tub and is perfectly serviceable, although you might want to call a contractor about the “Manhattan” mosaic. It’s $2,222 for the monthlies, and that gets you a 24-hour doorman, a live-in super, shared laundry, bike and private storage, and a shared roof deck with skyline views. You’re a ten-minute walk to Bryant Park, and the 6 train is a four-minute walk around the corner.

729 Greenwich Street, Apt. The apartment underwent some renovations recently, among them a refresh of the wide-plank hardwood floors and installation of a new ceiling and electrical. (The Rejuvenation pendant lights are a fun touch, as is the vintage brass guard for the decorative fireplace.) The corner kitchen is well equipped, with a good spread of walnut butcher-block countertops, open shelving built into the exposed brick, and a Summit under-counter refrigerator (no dishwasher, though, in keeping with the rustic vibes). The bathroom is windowed and has a tub. The south-facing windows look out on the aforementioned garden, which helps keep things nice and quiet. The maintenance fees are $1,213 a month, which gets you access to basement storage, a bike-storage area, and a full-time super. Unlimited subletting is permitted after two years, too, if that’s a concern. The Christopher Street 1 train is a seven-minute walk away, and the Hudson River promenade is even closer for sunset runs.

118 East 60th Street, Apt. 11C

This Lenox Hill one-bedroom, as seen in this listing photo, has an airy feel thanks to the open-concept kitchen.
Photo: Corcoran

A fairly large and sleek one-bedroom apartment in the Plaza Tower. Past a foyer sandwiched between a walk-in closet and two smaller ones is the airy living area, which gets decent light from the panels of oversize windows. This has your typical upscale open-concept kitchen (lots of storage space, top-shelf appliances, and marble countertops), and the adjacent dining nook leads out to a private balcony. (An alternative floor plan shows the dining area could be carved out into a tiny second bedroom with balcony access.) It looks like the bedroom doesn’t come with a door, but it does have a massive walk-in and can easily hold a king-size mattress. The bathroom is spa inspired, with floor-to-ceiling marble and an enclosed shower. It’s $2,478 a month for the maintenance fees in the full-service co-op, which gets you a 24-hour doorman and concierge, shared laundry, package room, bike room and storage, and roof-deck access. You’re also right around the corner from a good selection of subway lines and Bloomingdale’s, and it’s less than a ten-minute walk to Central Park.

467 Pacific Street, Apt. 4

The living area of this Boerum Hill apartment, as seen in this listing photo, can fit a sofa, a television and console, and not much else.
Photo: Howard Hanna

A first-floor co-op on Pacific Street that’s tucked in the back of the prewar building. The upside is it’s nice and quiet, although the listing photos suggest decent light might be tough to come by. You can probably get creative with the long gallery entrance (hang some art, sure, but maybe shelving too?), and the living area can hold a couch and some bookshelves but probably not much else. The windowed kitchen has plenty of counter space and cabinetry plus a dishwasher (the listing claims it’s an eat-in), and the bathroom has been updated with a new vanity. The bedrooms are pretty small, although the primary bedroom comes with some decent closet space. The second bedroom is definitely more of an office or nursery vibe. The $1,182 monthlies get you basement and bike storage plus shared laundry. Perhaps it’s all worth the trade-off for the neighborhood, though: You’re a couple of blocks from the Atlantic-Barclays transit-and-shopping hub, and Rucola is a five-minute walk away for its corn crema pasta.

Sign Up for the Curbed Newsletter

A daily mix of stories about cities, city life, and our always evolving neighborhoods and skylines.

Vox Media, LLC Terms and Privacy Notice

By submitting your email, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Notice and to receive email correspondence from us.

See All

This Murray Hill one-bedroom, as seen is this listing photo, feels inspired at least partially by the Harvard…

[8
433,15608,41318,7128,7166,35338,9,80398,7865,56,63,65,64,1491,461,44989,463,2380
post-333742","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-new-york-city","tag-affordable-housing","tag-boerum-hill","tag-brooklyn-apartments","tag-lenox-hill","tag-manhattan-apartments","tag-murray-hill","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city-apartment-listings","tag-new-york-real-estate","tag-ny","tag-nyc","tag-nyc-headlines","tag-nyc-news","tag-real-estate","tag-the-real-estate","tag-the-west-village","tag-under-a-million","tag-west-village
["GET
