{"id":334576,"date":"2026-09-01T06:08:20","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/334576\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T06:08:20","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:08:20","slug":"transatlantic-the-ocean-race-atlantic-sets-off-tuesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/334576\/","title":{"rendered":"Transatlantic \u2018The Ocean Race Atlantic\u2019 sets off Tuesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK \u2014 THE INAUGURAL EDITION of The Ocean Race Atlantic sets sail from Brooklyn Bridge Marina on Tuesday, with six international teams in foiling IMOCA 60 sailboats embarking on a 3,200-nautical-mile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theoceanrace.com\/en\/atlantic\/2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">race across the Atlantic<\/a> to Lorient, France. <\/p>\n<p>A Sailors Parade led by the 75-strong Naugatuck High School Marching Band from Connecticut will salute the sailors at 10:30 a.m.\u00a0 At 11:30 a.m. the ships depart to the official starting position, 150 miles away from the city\u2019s busy shipping lanes.<\/p>\n<p>Teams represent the USA, Germany, France, Japan, New Zealand and Switzerland.
