Pete Davidson and Colin Jost\u2019s most puzzling investment<\/a> is finally starting to make sense\u2014or at least as much sense as two Saturday Night Live stars<\/a> buying a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry ever could.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, September 17, the pair will turn the John F. Kennedy into the “Snapple Island Ferry,” a free, floating comedy club docked at Pier 17 in Lower Manhattan. Davidson and Jost will host the one-night-only event, featuring a 60-minute show with sets by a lineup of rising comedians. (And yes, the whole thing comes to you courtesy of that titular bodega-favorite beverage brand.)\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cTurning the ferry into a floating comedy club with Snapple makes more sense than anything else we considered and it still doesn\u2019t make much sense,\u201d Davidson said in a statement. \u201cEither way, we\u2019re giving people a chance to take a break, have a laugh and do something completely ridiculous with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show is being produced by The Stand Group, the team behind Union Square\u2019s The Stand Restaurant & Comedy Club and The Stand West at Chelsea Market. The group is also a partner in the ferry alongside Davidson and Jost, meaning this particular floating venue has plenty of comedy-club DNA onboard.<\/p>\n

The full lineup has not yet been announced; names will be revealed on Snapple\u2019s social channels in the lead-up to the show. Guests can expect free Snapple beverages and snacks\u2014and best of all, tickets cost absolutely nothing.<\/p>\n

A limited number of free pairs will be released daily at 3pm from Thursday, September 3, through Tuesday, September 8, at register.snappleislandferry.com<\/a>. Each person can claim one pair, covering admission for themselves and a guest. Given the hosts, price and extremely unusual venue, we would not count on those tickets floating around for long.<\/p>\n

Doors will open at 7pm on September 17, with the show beginning at 8:30pm. The ferry will be stationed at Pier 17, at 89 South Street.<\/p>\n

Davidson and Jost purchased the John F. Kennedy at auction in 2022, immediately inspiring questions about what, exactly, one does with a 277-foot retired ferry. The boat has since been pitched as a future waterfront entertainment destination.
