\n\tJordan Firstman<\/a>, fresh off Cannes buzz for his feature directorial debut \u201cClub Kid,\u201d leads the English-language voice cast of \u201cJim Queen,\u201d alongside comedian, actor and singer Matteo Lane<\/a> (\u201cChicago\u201d). The pair voice Jim and Lucien in the Cannes breakout gay animated comedy from filmmakers Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athan\u00e9. Global Constellation will introduce this English-language version, featuring the U.S. voice cast, to North American buyers at Toronto Film Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tEmmy-nominated comedian, actress and television host Nicole Byer (\u201cNailed It!\u201d), actor, playwright, screenwriter, singer, songwriter, producer and director John Cameron Mitchell (\u201cHedwig and the Angry Inch\u201d), drag queen, comedian, actor, activist, musician, author, podcaster and reality television personality Bob the Drag Queen (\u201cWe\u2019re Here,\u201d \u201cRuPaul\u2019s Drag Race\u201d), and Emmy and Golden Globes nominee Wendie Malick (\u201cShrinking\u201d) round up the voice cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe announcement comes as \u201cJim Queen\u201d continues to build on its Cannes momentum in the marketplace. Following its buzzy Cannes world premiere, which festival director Thierry Fr\u00e9maux hailed as \u201cone of the most beautiful in the festival\u2019s history since \u2018Priscilla Queen of the Desert,\u2019\u201d the film was released in French theaters by The Jokers Films on June 17, debuting at No. 3 at the box office behind only \u201cToy Story 5\u201d and \u201cBackrooms.\u201d To date, \u201cJim Queen\u201d has surpassed 370,000 admissions and $3 million at the French box office, and is rolling out theatrically across more than 25 international territories in the months ahead. U.S. distribution rights remain available and are currently in negotiation.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his review<\/a>, Variety\u2019s Guy Lodge called it a \u201chilarious rare shot of broad comedy that plays like a queer \u2018South Park\u2019 on literal steroids.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by Bobbypills founder David Alric and Arthur Delabays, \u201cJim Queen\u201d is a \u201cwild comedic ride through identity, fame and gay culture in crisis.\u201d When Heterosis, a mysterious virus that turns gay men straight, sweeps through the Parisian gay scene, Jim, the six-packed sovereign of the Gym Queens, goes from Pride royalty to social outcast. With only Lucien, a freshly out twink with more heart than abs, still by his side, Jim must race to find a cure before the disease erases the community that once worshipped him.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJim Queen\u201d premiered to raucous buzz as part of this year\u2019s Cannes official selection, the same edition at which Firstman\u2019s own directorial debut, \u201cClub Kid,\u201d in which he also stars, sparked a bidding war before being acquired by A24 in an eight-figure deal. He is currently in production on Season 2 of the hit HBO series \u201cI Love LA\u201d and has also starred in FX\u2019s \u201cEnglish Teacher\u201d and Mubi\u2019s hit feature film \u201cRotting in the Sun.\u201d He is represented by UTA, The Lede Company and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.<\/p>\n

\n\tLane, who is on his third international stand-up tour, \u201cWe Gotta Catch Up!,\u201d has sold more than 250,000 tickets across three worldwide tours. Last year, he sold out the Radio City Music Hall during his nationwide \u201cCan\u2019t Stop Talking\u201d tour. He has also sold out Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the Chicago Theatre. Most recently, Lane made his Broadway debut as Billy Flynn in \u201cChicago\u201d at New York\u2019s Ambassador Theatre. Beyond the stage, Lane\u2019s specials include \u201cThe Al Dente Special,\u201d streaming on Hulu and Disney+, \u201cHair Plugs & Heartache\u201d and \u201cThe Advance Special.\u201d He has appeared in \u201cAbbott Elementary\u201d and \u201cSurvival of the Thickest,\u201d and co-hosts the podcast \u201cI Never Liked You.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLittle Walnut, an investor in the original production, is producing the English-language version of \u201cJim Queen,\u201d with Moby and Lindsay Hicks, producing alongside Bobbypills with support from creative executive Erin Stehler.<\/p>\n

\n\tCo-written with Simon Balteaux and Brice Chevillard, \u201cJim Queen\u201d is produced by Bobbypills, one of Europe\u2019s leading adult animation studios. Bobbypills recently produced James Gunn\u2019s \u201cCreature Commandos,\u201d the first television series and first official chapter of the DC Universe, for DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Its credits also include \u201cCaptain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix,\u201d produced with Ubisoft Film & Television for Netflix, as well as the adult animated series \u201cCrisis Jung\u201d and \u201cVermin,\u201d both streaming on Netflix.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirectors Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athan\u00e9, both Gobelins alumni, bring extensive experience across animated features, series and games, with key credits on acclaimed films including \u201cThe Summit of the Gods,\u201d \u201cErnest & Celestine,\u201d \u201cThe Big Bad Fox and Other Tales,\u201d \u201cThe Swallows of Kabul,\u201d \u201cThe Rabbi\u2019s Cat\u201d and \u201cThe Red Turtle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJim Queen\u201d is co-produced by Umedia (\u201cThe Count of Monte Cristo,\u201d \u201cNight of the Zoopocalypse\u201d), with the support of Eurimages (Council of Europe), Avance sur recettes (CNC), la R\u00e9gion Nouvelle-Aquitaine, le D\u00e9partement de la Charente and la R\u00e9gion R\u00e9union.<\/p>\n
