Courts are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/mail-voting-usps-officials-concerns-disenfranchisement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">currently weighing<\/a> whether the U.S. Postal Service will be allowed to screen mail-in ballots based on information provided by election officials.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as news emerges that a whistleblower told Senator Richard Blumenthal\u2019s office that internal meetings about how the rules the Post Office is drafting could disenfranchise a large number of voters.\u00a0 Additionally, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/31\/politics\/homeland-security-voter-fraud-investigations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CNN is reporting<\/a> that the Department of Homeland Security will be looking into voter fraud in multiple states, including New York. States that don\u2019t cooperate could jeopardize federal grant funding.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, civic groups in New York including the League of Women Voters, Common Cause, NYPIRG and ReInvent Albany have issued a statement urging candidates for federal and state office to affirm the importance and integrity of the outcome of the state\u2019s upcoming elections.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NYPIRG\u2019s Legislative Director Blair Horner discussed the issues with Capital Tonight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Voting news has been dominating the airwaves this week.
